Children's Metal Jewelry Recalled By WeGlow International Due to Risk of Lead Exposure

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Hazard:

The recalled jewelry contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

None reported.

Description:

This recall involves WeGlow children’s flashing rings. The character-themed rings were sold in Shrek the Third and Spiderman 3 designs. The rings have item number 920422 printed on back of the packaging.

Sold exclusively at Dollar Tree, Dollar Bill$, Dollar Express, Greenbacks and Only $1 stores nationwide from December 2005 through August 2007 for $1.

Remedy:

Consumers should immediately take this jewelry away from children and return it to the store where purchased for a refund.
