With Toy Fair 2008 set to begin any day, my Inbox has been absolutely flooded with invitations to “stop by to see the latest and greatest…” And from what I’ve already read, it sounds like the event will be as massive as ever. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend. But other members of the SafeToys.com staff will be checking out the newest products and will keep you updated.
Toy Fair is a week-long event in which everyone in the toy industry gets to show their wares for the upcoming year. The chief word at the event most assuredly will be “safety,” especially after 2007’s less-than-stellar press onslaught. Now toy-makers are hoping to not only wow potential retailers and others with cool toys, but also to bring up the quaint notion of actually producing toys here in America, where we have a better chance of overseeing production.
There will be “green” toys, “old-fashioned” ones, and probably plenty of “absolutely nontoxic” items to consider. I’m certain these phrases will be tossed about pretty heavily in marketing campaigns this year, too. Toy Fair will set the stage for the next step in toy manufacturing. I, for one, can’t wait to see what the gang has planned!
