Maria Raha is a freelance writer and editor based in Philadelphia, Penn. During her ten-year career in the magazine industry, she has worked in various capacities for Time Out New York, Vibe, Spin, and Print Professional magazines. Raha has contributed writing to small press publications nationwide, as well as acting as managing editor for Swingset, an art and music journal based in New York City. In 2005, Seal Press published her first full-length, nonfiction book, Cinderella’s Big Score: Women of the Punk & Indie Underground. Her work has also appeared in the anthologies Young Wives’ Tales: New Adventures in Love and Partnership and The W Effect: Bush’s War on Women. Her cultural critique studies the point where culture and art intersect with social and political issues.
